The smart play

Most people come in after something breaks. The smart ones don't wait.

Maybe you're training for a marathon and your knee started talking to you. Maybe you tweaked your shoulder climbing. So you come get needled, we sort it out, you're back at it. Cool.

But here's what the athletes who stick around figure out: acupuncture isn't just the thing you do when you're hurt. It's the thing you do so you don't get hurt.

Recover faster between hard sessions. Keep the small stuff from turning into the injury that sidelines you for six weeks. Stay ahead of the training load instead of chasing it.

That's not a luxury. It's maintenance. Same as your foam roller, your sleep, your protein. Except this one gets to the muscle.

"I came in initially for some acute tennis elbow which she resolved within a couple of months. I now play tennis with no recurring pain. I've kept coming though because of all the other benefits."
- Curry C.
The expertise

Dry needling is one piece of acupuncture. We do the whole thing.

Here's the thing about dry needling: it's a slice of acupuncture, not the whole of it. The trigger-point release - real, useful, and the part everyone borrowed and renamed. But on its own, it's the surface layer.

Acupuncture goes deeper. Years of graduate-level training cover the needle work - technique, depth, insertion, how the body responds - and the pattern underneath, the reason that knot keeps coming back in the first place. Same needles. A lot more behind them.

So here you don't just get the knot released. You get the release and the deeper work that keeps it from coming back - plus real time on the table to let it settle.

Most treatments add fire cupping, too - glass cups drawn down by a quick flame to lift and decompress the tight spot and flood it with fresh blood flow. It's a big part of why athletes leave looser than they came in.

Release. Treat. Rest. That's why it sticks.

In one session, on one table

Dry needling

Fine needles into the tight, overworked muscle to release the knot and the trigger point - the part that gets you moving again fast.

Fire cupping

In almost every session. The original method - a quick flame draws the glass cup down onto tight muscle (it never touches you), lifting and decompressing it far deeper than the plastic-pump kind. The marks you've seen on Olympic swimmers.

Acupuncture

The deeper work that resets the pattern underneath, so the same spot stops flaring up week after week.

Who you'll see

You'll see someone who knows sports injuries from both sides

Jenna Bellano, L.Ac., is a licensed acupuncturist and a board-certified Athletic Trainer with a degree in Athletic Training. She's been treating orthopedic and sports injuries since 2017.

That combo is rare. She reads your injury through Western sports-medicine anatomy and Eastern pattern work, and treats the whole thing - not just the spot that hurts. Some athletes even walk out with PT-style exercises and recovery advice for between sessions.

She practices at Point Prescription, a small Denver clinic where every session gets real time on the table and a plan built around you.

"As an athlete, Jenna has been helping me with impingements and muscle strains given her athletic training background. She even gave me PT exercises to do outside of session and supplement recs that have truly changed my life."
- Gabi G.

What to expect

First visit

A real assessment - not just where it hurts, but what's driving it. Then the work: dry needling where it's needed, acupuncture to support the release and calm the nervous system. A lot of people fall asleep on the table. (Yes, even athletes.)

After

Some soreness in the treated area for 24-48 hours, like after a deep tissue massage. Drink water. Keep moving. Most people notice better range of motion and less pain within a day or two.

How many visits

Acute stuff (recent injury) often turns around in a few sessions. Older patterns take a few weeks of regular work, then maintenance. You get a real timeline after the first visit, built around your injury and how you train.

From the table
"She brings a PT background to the table, which I appreciate as a hobby-athlete like so many of us in the Front Range probably are."
- Joshua P.
"I've struggled with pain in my shoulder and nothing seems to work like acupuncture and cupping. So thankful to have found this place. Jenna is amazing."
- Naiely M.
"It's so strange to feel my hips loosening and releasing using the needles. It's the only thing that's helped. Jenna understands how the body works so well."
- Joe T.
